Saturday June 15th is our next opportunity to serve at Produce to People. Produce to People is the Pittsburgh Food Bank's large-scale produce distribution program. Each family receives 30-45 pounds of food, mostly fresh produce. We serve approximately 500 people on the North Side of Pittsburgh. We meet at the church at 8:00 am and travel together. Volunteers are done by noon. This is an excellent opportunity to touch the lives of people in the city of Pittsburgh. Won't you join us? A signup sheet is in the Narthex. Questions, contact Dan Zearley. https://www.pittsburghfoodbank.org/what-we-do/food-to-people/produce-people-p2p/
We celebrated a day of inspiration, a day the Holy Spirit returns, a day of joy: Pentecost. May the fire of the Spirit be with us each day. Thanks to our choir, brass ensemble, music staff and pastor for helping to make our worship meaningful!
A Mighty Wind Acts 2: 1-21 2When the day of Pentecost had come, they were all together in one place. 2And suddenly from heaven there came a sound like the rush of a violent wind, and it filled the entire house where they were sitting. 3Divided tongues, as of fire, appeared among them, and a tongue rested on each of them. Pastor Jeff proclaimed Sunday as "Creation Day", as we celebrated our responsibility to take care of the plants, animals, and resources that God provided to us.We planted 30 new fruit trees as a part of a grant from the Fruit Tree Planting Foundation. Many church members came after church to receive and plant these young trees that we hope will provide fruit in several years. They will be harvested and donated to the SHIM Food Pantry. It is a nice complement to our SHIM Garden! Thanks to the Nurturing the Covenant Community Pillar for providing lunch to all the workers. Enjoy Part 1 of our Slideshow.
During the Christmas season, a group of volunteers participated in the Produce to Pittsburgh program. They were able to help distribute food to 300 people!
On this 2nd Sunday of Advent, we learned about the hope and peace of Christmas through our children and youth pageant, "Leon."
Whether it is right here in the Pittsburgh area, somewhere in the USA, or in another nation, JMPC provides manpower to help those in need! Our mission-minded volunteers were out in the Bethel Park community again this week helping people whose homes were devastated by the recent flooding.
Gardening at the Duquesne community garden. Sorting clothes for Duquesne mission store. Our older VBS participants were super heroes!
